I know lots of people on here have used it, but have never seen many opinions about it. How well does this stuff work? And where the hell do I put it in to the throttle body? The brake booster line?
And what about using the trans tune? I haven't heard of many people using this.

ooo'no.....you just opened up a big can of beans on this one :p: lol

I had a feeling I might have! I've done search after search on this stuff and read a lot of posts on HOW to use it, but really never found a lot telling the results.

Lol.. you said it boggs.

I'll say this about Seafoam and leave it. I have a 1993 Ford Explorer with 266k miles, I doubt the former owner EVER seafoamed it, when I first did it, I could tell a difference immeidieately. The idle was smoother, and the engine didn't feel as strained. I use the vacuum line coming off of the cruise control module in the engine bay, for me it's easier hten trying to do it any other way, but depends on what you want to do.

Some people say using the vacuum tree doesn't let it soak in the whole engine/combustion chamber. I normally put half a can in the gas tank, and half a can through the vacuum tree. But that's just me.

While thinking about it, there's really no way to get perfect distribution no matter where you put it, but you ARE helping the engine by doing this, whether a little or a lot you don't know for sure, but it is helping. Just make sure to let it soak for a while, then turn the engine back on, it's a great smoke show.

i use seafoam on my mustang about once a year.
maybe its a placebo effect and you think its working better, but even if it does nothing, man what a smoke show lol

I think it all depends on how many miles and how much buildup there is in between.

For instance, it's been about 10,000 miles since my last Seafoam, if I did it now I won't notice much of a change than say... My first Seafoam which had 266k miles of buildup.

I know for SURE the engine worked better. But like I said, I think to be able to tell a difference, you'd have to go a long ways between the Seafoaming

most likely
but regardless, im pretty sure it cleans that **** right out
i only sucked it in through the vacuum line. i dont trust it enough to put it in my oil or my gas tank

im sure if i seafomed the exploder i just bought, it'd be a day and night difference.

also i think that the can also states that a part of it can be added to the crankcase oil ....but also after reading the many post on seafaom thats it not meant to be left in and driven on (i think the can says different" ...only at oil change time for that because it's a solvent and could be cleaning out more than you expect on a high mileage motor.

If I happen to think about it, about every 3rd-4th oil change, I do a seafoam treatment with the vacuum/oil. Half a can through the vacuum lines, the other half through the oil, but I don't drive, I just let it idle in the driveway, and slowly (very slowly) rev to about 2000rpms and back down. Amazingly enough, I had a bad lifter tick that went away with it, of course it came back, but for about 800-900 miles it was gone. :-)

For gas treatments, I just use the lucas stuff that has the green caps on it, kinda like olive oil consistency.

yeah youre supposed to drive on it in the oil just for a bit and then change it
or maybe its change it immediately...but i couldnt see that doing much

Thanks guys. I did another search and found an old thread call Sea Foam Insertion points and it answered a LOT of questions.

According to the tech at Seafoam, when added to the crankcase, it will clean and then dissappate/evaporate.

Read the can. I dumped half a can in the oil and the lifter tick I had has not returned. I drove it afterwards for a couple weeks before I changed the oil. I also replaced my filter with a ford one, seems to be important if you talk to some people.

My $.02

I foam my truck every year, and I just did my g/f corolla for the first time in 100K, now that was a smoke show, smoked like there was no tomorrow even before I got all the foam through the brake booster vacuum line.

my parents have a 98 olds bravada. The intake gasket went and dumped coolant into the motor. It had a small leak for a while because there was carbon build up on the valves? and it caused low compression in 2 cylinders. A relative of ours works for Chevy and was working on it for us. He put seafoam in the spark plug holes and cranked it over, then put the plugs in and started it. It got the compression back to normal. It runs alot better now, not perfect because there was damage done inside from the gasket blowing out because we have drained metal outta the oil before. Overall, i would say seafoam works good. just change the oil after because you could tell it was in the oil.

Have a picture of which vacuum line it is from the booster?

I used a can in my moms old Mercury Topaz. Haha, forgot I put it in and started smoking the next day. I freaked out thinking I blew the head gasket. haha,:D. I used it in the oil and tank. Gave it much better throttle response. I've yet to do it on my explorer. But I wanna try it on my dads honda accord when I drive from TN to GA next Friday! Will probably do it at a gas station or something, let it sit and then drive down the freeway smoking up the roads!!!:D:D:D:confused::confused:

( on the highway ) ...."warning"..strange smoking object rapidlly closeing in @ 80mph ......."

you will be a "uso" .... unidenified-smoking-object

lol

Here ya go.
And here's one just for fun! Crazy

Cheap fix. $8 +- usually.

I don't usually go that fast, but who knows what I'll do. Cause my car will be "on fire" and I have to go faster cause I'm....scared! Lol haha

just make sure to use the emergancy flashers ...that way everybody will get over and let you pass
