Seat Belt Alarm

I was going to say it either sounds like the Contra code or some kind of messed up Martha Stewart recipe.

How to deactivate/reactivate auto door locking as follows.

Note: The doors will not be locked automatically if the vehicle has been started in N (neutral)

Make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed, the ignition is off and all doors including the tailgate and its window are closed.
Steps 1 to 5 must be completed within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. Before repeating, wait 30 seconds.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press the door unlock button 3 times.
3. Turn the ignition off.
4. Press the door unlock button 3 times.
5. Turn the ignition on; the horn will sound.
6. Press the unlock button, then press the lock button. The horn will sound once if the autolock system has been deactivated or twice (one short, one long) if the system has been activated.
7. Turn the ignition off. The horn will sound once to confirm the procedure is complete.

Taken from the handbook.
Hope this helps

If they are locked and you crash, get nocked unconcious and the car is on fire, then how is the normal passerby gonna get you out to save your life?

Bust a window.

If you don't like the idea of locking doors that is why you can turn it off.
Personally I think that it is a very good idea and I wish that it was on all cars/suvs. Crime is on the increase and it's good to feel safe.

thanks howard!
wow i sure don't remember doing all that to turn them off. maybe mine are just broken.... i'll try it.
i thought it was code to punch in on the number pad on the door or something.

May not have the equip to do it. I understand everyones crime reason, it just makes me too nervous if I wreck, I don't want to burn up.;)

Just about everybody has a tire iron.

I don't like the auto door locks because when you get out and need to get in another door, you have to remember every time to unlock all doors. I park in my shop and always have the doors unlocked. I don't know if my Ford does it, but a friend's J**p won't let me out of the back seat unless the driver unlocks it, now how stupid is that?!?!

The wifes car does that. I hate it, I feel trapped. It also makes it a lot easier to lock your keys in there!

The odds of that happening are far smaller than the odds of getting carjacked. If the windows haven't been busted from the accident, there is bound to be something handy to bust out the window. If not then it was my time to go. In no way will I drive around town with my doors unlocked. I have met people that have had people try and open their doors when stopped at a stop light. I have never met someone that was in an crash, got knocked unconcious with their car on fire. I'm not saying it can't happen, but you stand a much less chance of facing harm with your doors locked.

Yeah that is one feature that I do really like. Around Houston peole get carjacked just stopped at red lights with the doors unlocked. I think it would be pretty hard to get in an accident where the car bursts into flames and the driver is knocked unconcious without a window being broken.

It doesn't work for me, :( I tried it several times, the auto door lock works, :) But I even crawled in the back and tried the: up up down down left right left righ b a select start on the PlayStation2, still didn't work. :D

Sorry but that is what it states in my manual.
The export version must be quite different.
Have you checked your manual?
Anything on the ford site?
Best of luck

My manual doesn't say anything about it even being an option to turn it off and on. Thanks, anyways, I like it being off so I don't have to mess with it.

My source of the procedure was the ford handbook that came with my x.
But I have a 1998 4.0 sohc export model RHD with console gear change instead of column change.
Lots of the parts are labled export ( even the fuel tank ! ) I can't think why the fuel tank is different.
Thats life I guess. They did fit the x with goodyears not firestones..... so can't be all bad. Wish I had colomn change though. When I was in Florida I loved it more space... less to get in the way!!!
