Since this section is dead, and jtsmith is begging for action.

Seats from an '00/'01 Taurus reside in my Explorer, but not after along, and still going fight.

those look very well done. was the seat sliders hard to mount up? Also what year x do you have?

I would not recomend using the Taurus seats. The tracks for the Taurus as well as the Hinge for the back of the seat are one piece. So I had to manually seperate the two ;) And drill new holes as fab up some brackets.

It is a 2000.

I just did, what I hope, is finish tweeking them tonight. The driver seat wasn't sitting level and driving me crazy. As well as it have a stripped out mounting bolt. All are well now and I love them!

I have a line on some 2000 bmw 7 series buckets that I want to put in mine, If I can find out how to wire all of the controls up, and they arent too wide they are going in and the eddie bauer buckets are moving back. Those taurus seats look nice.

Sounds like a good project. I'd fear the wiring in those though! Suprisingly the Taurus's are wider than the Explorer's. So I do get rubbing on the B pillars. But I can live with it :)

I am almost sure that they will be too wide, but only the tape measure will tell. My second in line would be acura TL sport seats. The wiring would be easy and they would definitly fit, but finding cheap ones would be hard. I have an 03 tl-s for a DD and the seats are excellent.

Very very sick!

Forgot to mention; I've done the 5 hour driver across PA without making a stop thanks to these seats. Mind you, thats hard to do with the V8 ;). I would get terrible back ache with my stock clothe seats after only two hours. With these I could go transcontinental!

Is the front cup holder and console from the Taurus?
Great job and looks sooooo good!

Front is the stock high series Explorer. Back is one from a gen1 explorer.

Out of curiosity, did you ever happen to rip open the original seats? I am thinking about doing something to my 16 year old interior and I like the seats, if I had new padding and upholstery, I would be happy and I would avoid the modification process involved in swapping seats, and would probably come out a little cheaper. So, the reason I ask if you ripped them apart is because I am wondering what the frame is like and how hard it would be to put in a racing seat belt. It feels like the seat has an opening in that area and I would only need to weld in a small support piece, but I would like to get a look at a bare frame before I start cutting mine up.

I thought EB had nice seats.

Well the wife and I took a 45 minute ride yesterday in our new '02 EB and we were both dying from the hard seats.

Oh my god.

I am spoiled from driving Lincolns all my life!:p: And now she drives a LS.;)

We were both wondering what other seats could fit. Im sure navigator seats want. How about Aviator seats?

Gen3 seats are rather terrible. Gen2's aren't much better. They kill my lower back.
