Section525's new DD/Tow Rig/Super Hot Chick Magnet

I am at the dealer. They think the EGR was leaking into the cylinder until it finally hydrolocked. They're going to look at it today and if that's the problem it'll be a $100 deductable and a day or two before Sarah gets her truck back.

PS. I hate Mountaineers.

Niether do I so this is just a guess...

I love my Mountaineer and how in the hell does egr hydrolock an engine-pray tell:confused:
EGR is a gas-

Since diesel engines are different maybe the EGR is different? or maybe a different substance "hydrolocks" the motor.

Okay, the EGR is cooled. I guess it's a fairly common issue with these things.

I break one Ford. So I go out to use my other one to go to the dealer and it won't start!! It hasn't been driven in about four weeks and someone left the dome light on.

The Explorer is up at my buddy's shop. So I have no other cars to jump with. The ol' lady had to come home from work to jump me. :p: :D

Fords... pffft .

Next time, buy a Schwinn, Specialized, or something else with less wheels (unicycles come to mind) because conceptually, the less wheels a vehicle has, the less parts it has which means less parts to break.

:p:

My Jetta is still big pimpin' though.

Haven't been married but about six months and you are calling her your "old lady"
I hope she doesn't see this:D

Man, she's coming up on 26 at the end of this month! Almost time to trade her in on a newer model!

Let me guess, you talked to a service writer that does not know what hydrolocked engine means?

Definitely the service writer. He was nice enough though! :D Hopefully I get a call soon on the diagnosis and the finish date.

This isn't a bad thing.

Mine had an EGR cooler go bad, the valve/cooler is a big problem. The white stuff was coolant shooting through the exhaust when I had that problem, I kept loosing coolant and was 100 miles from civilization so I kept topping it off and it kept working it's way out the tailpipe.

I didn't have the immediate sluggish problems you had.

Did it get hot?

To fix mine the dealer
1) replaced EGR cooler
2) tested heads to see if they warped from overheating (and were ready to replace entire engine if they felt necessary to not see me again in 2 months)
3) replaced head gaskets.

It's pretty bad when a dealer flat out tells you stories about all the known problems and how 6.0 superdutys keep tow trucks in business. I was also shocked when they said they WANTED to put in an engine because they were sick of sending out trucks that one problem was fixed but the customers kept coming back with reoccuring problems. Isn't warranty usually something you need to fight to get fixed? I give my props to Ford for how they handled it, love my Superduty just hate the reliability.

Not at all. I had it parked during a photo session of some local ladies (pics later). :p: I had litterally started it up and began idling 12mph down a snow-covered logging road. It fubar'd while I had been coasting only for about 2 minutes only.

I just talked to the dealer and he said they know nothing concrete yet. Hopefully tomorrow. :salute:

good luck, Ford wanted my heads tested at a machine shop (checked for tolerances, warping or something) and then they sent the parts. I was out for 3 weeks on this.

How many miles on the ticker? FYI the 100K warranty is only good for 5 years(not that you are close to either). I did not know this until I needed an injector on my excursion this summer.

Yeah, I just passed 83k. Been thinking about getting the extended warranty... Or a new '07. I have some time to ponder it I guess.

Hydrolocked huh? How deep of snow were you drivin in?:p:

What to buy a Bronco 2? I'll make ya a sweet deal, then you will not have to deal with that POS Mountaineer anymore:p:

Well the ol' lady got a call that it's done now. She said it was the injector(s). I guess I'll get the full scoop when I pick it up on Friday.

At least it was a short visit to the dealer this time. :D
