Well started off as a startling morning with Rick calling me while I was having coffee telling me he need to go to the Hospital in Alpine, Tx, but he seemed to have sucked it up and made it the whole day without going.
We got to the airport at 7am and set up the cones for the quarter mile runs, half mile runs and the salom.
The funny thing was (I'm so going to get in trouble here, double actually

: ) all the guys were standing around talking amongst themselves to see who was going to go get the Bull Run Girls, while I sat in the convertible, then Warren one of the organizers looks at me and asks if I would go get them, like he was going to get in touble for doing that, so I did, the funny thing is that they had NEVER been in a GT500 let alone a convertible, they so thought they were big pimp'n as they put it LMFAO!
So I sat out the quarter mile runs to get you all some pictures of the event but stepped up to the plate during the half mile runs, and took the convertible to 140mph in the half mile, YES I'm the guy in the yellow shirt, the gentleman sitting next to me is Chuck McDonald, we have been talking since yesterday, he came all the way from Penn. dragging his car on a trailer.
Chuck then tossed me the keys to his stock red GT500 coupe (#15) which I blasted the half mile at 130mph in.
BTW the silver GTX1 and the black 2010 Snake both make 1000rwhp! The GTX1 is one of thirty five roofless twin turbos, the guys name is Rick and is the moderator on the Ford GT forums, and will be following us back to Austin sunday, and following me half way to Houston monday morning.
After a impressive catered lunch we proceeded to the salom course, I watched for a little bit, and it was AWN!!!
I imediately went out in the Terlingua and busted of a 33 second pass to the fastest of a 36 second pass.
Now this salom is a little different, you start in a box, leave, do the salom, turn around redo the salom, and flip around and backup in reverse back into the box, and time out.
I started to give rides at that point, then I did it in reverse with a time of 42 seconds, beating out the best time of the guy who won it last year, whom was driving it forward, and also beat Rick's best forward time, note I was the only one whom did the whole course in reverse, Ken the guy who's hood I signed did it half and half.
While giving rides, I beat my best time of 33 seconds with a 31 second run, lets just say I beat the **** outta that little Terlingua, hopefully I can get some vids from the people that were taping, plus we have some incar footage as well, Rick, to say the least was very excited and was just loving it!
So the non-Shelby owner trumped all the other shelby guys.
Then I looked at Chuck and said, let me beat up on your Coupe (#15) in the salom, and proceeded to click off a 35 second run, before we packed it all in in.
It was a great day everyone loved the rides, there was a lot of clapping, laughing, and dubachery had by all.
I took a picture of the times and sent them to John to post so be ready for those.
AND JOHN I LOVE YOU THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING ALL THESE PICTURES FOR US TO ENJOY!!!
John meet me at PSI monday and we'll go do the Beer Garden for lunch sir
Well after a formal dinner tonight, we having the outlaw golf cart races, yeah this should get pretty crazy, then off to La Kiva for drunk'n dubachery.
Tomorrow is the cruise to Marfa, Texas, and the car show, so stay tuned, the way this weekend is going, you never know what may be next.
And Rick in the GTX1 was giving rides all day, women walked away squeeking (can I say that), I think some guys **** their pants, but everyone was just beside themselves from that car and it's power.
CHEERS!! Jeff - :navajo:
