Shift kit question

I bought a used trans with 100,000 miles on it to put in my explorer, is it worth the money to have a trans shop install the the shift kit or should I just let go and get my buddy to install the trans. I really dont have the extra money to have it done, but if it will make a big diference I will consider it.

Save your money, and get it running. You could always install the kit later. It's better to see if it runs with the used transmission first before you install a kit. If it doesn't work, then you will know that the used transmission is defective, and it's not related to the installation of the kit.
