Shocks for Mom

I am a new "B" to this forum, an advid long time Ford owner.
My question concerns my Mothers '94 Limited Explorer. The shocks are shot. What would you guys recomend for a soft ride on her rig. The closest thing her Explorer sees to off-road is the 1/4 mile drive up my gravel road.

I would say Edelbrock I have heard they are really soft or some Rancho 9000s.

Rancho 9000s are pricey. Especially for mommy to just bomb around on. Ranchos are pretty stiff too for the most part though the 9000s are adjustable. I'm not sure about the cost or which models, but some Monroes or Gabriels seem to be the most talked about for softer rides depending on which model.
