Ok this should be easy for anyone who knows a little more than me. If I do a TT/Shackle install and get larger tires from stock, then I want to replace the shocks too, do I need a different size shock?

With just a tt/shackles & new tires you will not need new shocks, if you go with a body lift then mabey, but otherwise with what you have now you don't need them ;) If you do want to replace them you will not need extended shocks.

You won't need new shocks, stockers should be fine. Should be fine with a body lift too.

The only reason you'd need new shocks would be because they are worn out. A lift has no effect on shock travel length (as Danny mentioned). The upper shock mount is actually one of the frame cross members.

While that's true of the body lift, what about for a 3" suspension lift in the rear and 2.5 suspension in the front? (My rear is bent springs and AAL, front is TT)

The guy at 4Wheel parts wouldn't sell me stock Rancho 5000's because it was lifted and Rancho "doesn't make a shock for a lifted explorer of that year".

Fortunately his boss came over and offered a little more help. But even he said that I would need to go and measure my shock to get the right size.

BTW - Sportnu - I just picked up the 3" BL....soon to have installed.......

a body lift has no effect on the shocks. an any lifting (of the suspension) over 2.5 inchs the shocks should be replaced for best performance

Good deal ^^^ word to the wise, don't even bother with the 33's just go straight for the 35's, just got mine the other day, still wandering why I ever settled for the 33's, not enough for me :D You should go on that windrock tenn run towards the end of feb with us ;)

How did you fit 35s? Did you get a set of Perry fenders? Or did you get that 4+" TT done?

No I just recieved them (tires), I haven't put them on yet and I'm waiting for some torsion bar adjusters to come in so I can change them while changing the bars, but i'll let you know how that 4" tt goes.

i got the 4" TT now that it got cold i got a annoying squeaky sound coming from teh bushings on the driver side... the passenger sid eis to far away to hear. cant tell if it sqeaks or not.

Im running the 35-37" tires on it too...
