Let me get right to it:

What do I need to look out for in shopping for an Explorer? What should I avoid? Common issues?
I'm grateful for any feedback..

Backstory, if you're interested:
I've always loved Explorers, had 1996 Eddie Bauer which was crap but still love them.
I've noticed prices going down and I can afford a newer one now (under 60k miles).
I'll get a good interest rate if it's 2014 or newer, no other 3rd row, AWD vehicle even comes close.
(I see Traverse, Acadia, Durango, CX9- might get this for my wife- in the choices but they don't appeal to me)
I hate that everyone regurgitates "get a Toyota or Honda" every time I say I'm looking for a car, but I want American made.
I currently own a 2008 GMC Acadia, which was fine, I have 165k miles on it and changed the transmission once. A few other issues on the horizon like water pump and powere steering pump which I don't plan to replace unless I can get a good price on the repairs, I planned to run this car into the ground if I could, owe $500 on it and it would be nice to avoid another car loan but I need something reliable.
