I've been thinking of whether or not to install some sidemarkers on my explorer, I think they look nice but I was wondering if it would not look that great on an SUV like an explorer. So as a result I'm asking anyone to share their opinion on what they think, whether its a terrible idea or kinda cool and would look alright.

Thanks!

i have side markers on my x, and me and my wife like the way they look. i have them wired so that they are on with the parking light and blink when the turn signals are on. our x is black and we have a sidemarker that had a tinted lens with a blue 194 bulb i put in and it looks nice at night (kinda purple lookin). but the ultimate decision is yours.

i'll try to take some pics of our truck sometime today and see if i can get them up.

sorry for the long post.

I have them as well, they are clear with a yellow 194 bulb inside. I think they look great and help for safety.

Do it!! I have them and have received many compliments on them. They are easy to install and makes your X stand out from the other ones. Plus as sideswipe stated...they improve safety. I chose to go with the clear ones with the yellow bulbs to match my clear corners.

Thanks to everyone who posted! They actually look great on the explorers (looking at Kodeblu's pic). I think I'm definatly going to get them, and I think I'm gonna go with the clear and yellow bulb or maybe blue bulb. One more question though, how hard is it to install? Because I don't really feel safe drilling holes in the body of my vehicle and have no clue as to how to wire it.

Thanks!

DraG-OnZ, I dug up an old post and found Cameron's website with detailed instructions AND pics to help you out. I basically followed his lead with the exception of sticking masking tape on the side of the truck before drilling. I did this to make it easier to measure and mark my center holes. And because I read somewhere that the masking tape prevents the paint from lifting when drilling into body panels. Also, depending on which style of light you choose to go with will determine what size and shape hole you have to drill or cut into your fender. I chose a light which required cutting a round hole. Personally, I thought it would be easier to use a 1/2" hole saw instead of trying to measure, level and cut a square hole. Just something else to consider when you purchase your lights.

Hope this helps...post some pics when you a done ;)
