quite a while back I saw that Phillips was working on a light bulb that was a silver-ish/chrome color, but would light up as amber. They were specifically being made for use in clear corner/euro lenses to give a cleaner look. Anyone know if these ever made it into the market by Phillips or anyone else? I couldn't find anything on the Phillips site :(

i've seen them on ebay. also, last time i went to o'reily's auto parts they had a few from some company... maybe it was APC?

thanks for the reply psychotic, any idea what to search for on eBay? I'll have to check some of the local auto stores to see if they have anything on the shelves....

search for the bulb #, i think thats how i came across them....

Kind of off topic, but I bought my corner bulbs from autozone. They are made by Sylvania. They are perfectly clear and when I have my parking lights on they glow an amber color. When I turn on the blinker they shine white. They look stock at night until I turn on the blinker. With the blinker on they light up the road pretty good. Just thought I would throw that out there.

as i did with mine spray paint them sliver. It cost $4 dollars at home depot and it is easy to do. Just make sure its HIGH TEMP paint.

Paul

oh when i say spray paint them, i mean a very light coat.

I spray painted mine too. Works really good.

Crimson... just want to let you know that your sig should be no more than 6 lines.

Hey man, I just figured I'd tell you before one of the moderators shortened it for you. Just trying to help out.

Crimson
No need to be a smarta$$ when someone points out the basic rules of the forum to you.

Christ you did not even give me a chance to respond... and besides now your going off topic morrisey0.

Can we please drop this or do you not have anything better to do.

OK, this really isnt a big deal. I simply pointed out that your signature was longer than the forum allows, suggesting that you shorten it. Then you replied with a smart remark. Apparently I was not the only one that took it that way. I'm sure Morrisey didn't appreciate the fact that you would reply with an attitude after someone was pointing out a forum rule to you, nor would any other member of this forum. This is the last time I try to help you out...

It really should be in the faq under signatures i am not the only person who did not know this. I did a search and found this.

Sorry.

ok, none of you ever really said, but when you hit the amber bulbs with a light coat of high temp. silver, does it still blink/stay on in an amberlike color? ive got front clears, and im having trouble finding the Sylvania's. ive got LED's in the very corner (the little bulbs) but im not willing to spend $60 for 4 LED's to replace the bigger ones... BTW my Autozone had nothing but regular bulbs or LED's...

Yes. They still light up orange. Its just a little bit dimmer and makes the orange sort of a light red color. It looks good.

98FordX24- too late. i just did mine, hehe. man, i cant believe i never heard of this before. what a great mod. now i wish i had never wasted the $$$ on the LED's for the small-bulb corners. anyone interested, i used some Duplicolor 1200 degree aluminum-look paint. got it at the 'zone a while back. i only stress that the bulb only needs to be lightly "fogged", and the only way i could do this was holding the can about 3 feet away... first try got too much on the bulb and made it light up quite dark. works best if you can still see a hint of the amber peeking through the silver. mine now light up amber (no red-ish tint here) same as stock, and are only slightly dimmer (when lit) than nonpainted.

To all of you out there considering LED's, don't waste your money!!!

I ordered silver bulbs but they never came. I actually like the look of the amber/orange look in my clear clorners. Nice accent to my HID's and Yellow fogs.

James I too made that mistake. I at first over killed it, the next batch I made you could still see little amber spots.
I am glad that the clear corners that i bought came with an extra set of bulbs.

Little is sometimes better.

GO EAGLES!!!! You think the texas teams would learn when playing against phily.
