Ahh....the famous last words.;)

I said that... ended up getting towed off the dunes and didn't have OD on the way home :)

Seriously... don't push the truck too hard, don't stop on inclines, etc and you'll be fine

So who's all in for the 11th?
VairKing
Toad?
Espnfreak
99mounty
sikora?
michigander?

I still don't know....you know the buddy with the overinflated tires......he's going into surgery tomorrow and gettin steel plates inserted in his wrist after snaping it in like 5 places yesterday. I should know soon on whether or not I will make it.

Hey guys,

Im in Minnesota, so I guess it wouldn't be TOO bad of a drive eh? How long do you guys imagine it might take? Also do I have to go all the way around the south tip of Lake Michicgan thru chicago to get there?

I don't know that I could make it though, I have class on Friday tell 2 and then on monday again at 11am. If it were the next weekedn I have Thur. Fri. Sat. Sun. off, but I know you guys want to go on the 11th. Anyway if someone could let me know the approx. travel time there that would be great.

I would have to get my new tires and convince my dad first :) but if I can't make it this run I for sure would love to go sometime next spring/summer.

uh, it should take 4 hrs from chicago, so probably 6-8 hrs. you can meet up with me if you want. im going to come back home friday night, get the truck and then probably head up there. so if you wanted to caravan with me, that would be cool

Well it looks like 7 hours to chicago from here, and now that I think about it, I don't think I will be ready by then, I still have quite a few things left to do before I am ready to wheel.

Hopefully Ill be good to go by spring and we can maybe get another run organized. Maybe we can find some more from MN that can attend then too so Ill have some people to caravan down with, I thank you for the offer but it just looks like its not going to work out for me this time around...

Lookin pretty good right now for the 11th (nothings 100%) If so I would stay in Hart right off the highway there. Id say about 90% sure id be there.

I might be able to make it too... though you might have to settle for me bringin' the Ranger or the F-150... the Explorer needs ball joints, and I might not have the dough by then.... actually, they all need parts.... Ranger needs brakes, Explorer needs ball joints and shocks, f150 needs shocks (desperately!)... too much work to do, not enough time....

either way, if someone could remind me as we get closer, I would certainly like to go....

Sweet, so we're finally getting a decent crowd. I asked Shaun Sikora and he wasn't up to the BBQ, so maybe we could like eat at a local restaurant on that saturday? I'm just planning on going all day saturday, and leaving when the park closes. Probably head up friday night and stay friday.

Okay, sounds good, like before, I know the area very well, so any questions, send em my way!

I was just up there this weekend, and here's what I did....

We stayed at Silver City 2 campground... can;t reccommend them at all, but that's another story. Rustic camping was 12/night/person. (most surrounding campgrounds are similar) Drove up Friday night, set up camp, the crew went to the dunes for a bit, then out to eat.

Saturday, I had some yogurt and cereal for breakfast, then stopped at Subway right before heading to the dunes. Dinner was with some friends from Holland, but I had macaroni and cheese as a back-up.

Same breakfast Sunday AM and it was off for me... a lot of the group stayed Sunday night too, so they went back again....

In other words, there's LOTS of wheelin' time there, and it doesn't require a lot of equipment... a tent, some wood, a cooler, and a bit of planning.

Yeah...nice thing about this type of trip is that any 4x4 rig can do perfectly fine in there. This type of stuff won't usually cause any damage unless you go crazy and roll it or something..

Hey espnfreak, thanks for letting me know. We should be able to make it, Sounds like a good time!

the 11th is the best for me, but like I said.... I'm not a definite so don't plan anything around me, lol

id love to go.. my limited is still pretty stock due to the cost of school this year *(22 thousand)* so i hope its not TOO bad... ive done a bit of climbin, etc... maybe by then i'll have my body lift and some meats on it... 31's i hope... keep in touch though..

mad3@calvin.edu

Stock is fine there....tires help some...but the lift isn't a necessity.
