I was just up there this weekend, and here's what I did....
We stayed at Silver City 2 campground... can;t reccommend them at all, but that's another story. Rustic camping was 12/night/person. (most surrounding campgrounds are similar) Drove up Friday night, set up camp, the crew went to the dunes for a bit, then out to eat.
Saturday, I had some yogurt and cereal for breakfast, then stopped at Subway right before heading to the dunes. Dinner was with some friends from Holland, but I had macaroni and cheese as a back-up.
Same breakfast Sunday AM and it was off for me... a lot of the group stayed Sunday night too, so they went back again....
In other words, there's LOTS of wheelin' time there, and it doesn't require a lot of equipment... a tent, some wood, a cooler, and a bit of planning.
