Hey guys,
I have a '94 Limited 4x4 v6. The last couple of weeks I get a single
clunk when I break med to hard. Any ideas?
Note: Its not the RA bushings, they are three months old and in good
shape.
Thanks, Jeff...

front differential or motor mounts maybe, thats where my clunks came from

i was thinking the drive shaft slip yoke may need to be lubed.

or the u joints

Humm.. sounds like the radius arm bushings. Follow the braces that come from the front diff to the frame cross member. When the bushings wear through the come in contact with the cross member giving you that cluck because the front axle wants to lift upward during breaking. Its pretty common. The parts from ford run about $86. On earlier fords, pre 94 the cross member is bolted in. On my 94 it was rivited in. Dealer install runs about $236 or so, with parts included. Cya

Perhaps loose brake calipers?

i've had that before too.. one of my caliper anchor bolts came out so the whole caliper assembly would shift when it clamped the rotor. fun stuff..
