Hey guys, i'm changing all three u-joints on the front axles of my 93 X and I just encountered a small problem. The slip yoke on the passengr side is seized like a BIT$%. I've put penetrating oil and hammered it and still it won't slide free. My next step is to heat it but i was wondering if you guys have other tips. I know I will have to open the diff to remove the c-clip and remove the yoke, do you think i can remove the axle/slip yoke as one big assembly??

Thanks alot guys.

As I understand it, the slip yoke splines receive a teflon deposit at manufacture. After all these years, it's probably gone, but if it was maintained to spec, it will have teflon based grease, which leads me to my main point:

If you must apply heat to try to free the slip yoke, please do so with ample ventilation. The fumes from decomposing teflon are toxic.

i finally got it free, after 15 minutes of heating it up until it was glowing red and having my girlfriend pull on the axle shaft while i was taping on the yoke with a hammer.
