my girl friends 93 explores tranz is slipping badly in over drive do to being one and a half quarts low i have scene topped it off and it kepped on slipping until lately it seams to have got a little better and does,t slip hardly at all i know this seams crazy but how can that be? I also have heard these trainies go bad in the over drive. My last question is should one drive around town in over drive her dad told her this is good for gas mileage but i don,t think one should do it around town just the high way i don,t know because i have never owned any thing with an over drive. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

Lots of people here will tell you to keep over drive off unless your on the freeway. Since OD is only engaged at speeds over 50.

Replace the internal filter, and all of the fluid.

brooklynbay: i can change the filter and fluid but the fluid is brown doesn,t that mean the clutches are fryed?

Before you changs the fluid get some Seafoam Trans Tune and Follow the directions. It will clean out the crud. It made my trans shift like new.

when i change the fluid what are the specs for the band adjustments while I'm in there?

Tighten them to 120 In/Lbs, then back them off 2 turns. Check # 4, and # 5 in my list of useful threads for more information.
