Hey Guys-
I just had some work done on my car. I had the water pump replaced, the radiator system flushed, and some of the belts replaced. When I got my car back from the shop, the next day I was driving it, and smoke started to come out of the vents. I didn't have my a/c on at all, the vents started to just spit out dirty air (the air coming out, is usually thicker in the mournings when I try to drive). The air that was coming out had a funky smell to it also. It almost smells like anti-freeze? I tried to take it back and get them to fix it, but they said that they wouldn't do it without charging me because it has nothing to do with what they fixed? It was never doing this before I took it in to the shop, so I'm kind of in a sucky position. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any at all!! Thanks.

If it does it after it warms up it is your heater core. There is a drain on the bottom passenger side of the firewall. See if there is any antifreeze coming out of there and if so your heater core has warn out and the radiater flush cleared out the dirt and grime that was plugging the whole. Best way to fix it is to replace the heater core.

It is most definately your heater core. It should be more of a white steam, than smoke. Heater core are VERY EASY to replace. It is inside your cab under the passenger side dash. Just remove your kick plate fabric to get to it.
The heater core will run $25-55 (part only)

Hope this helps

If it is your heater core going, and you do have antifreeze in the vent system, make sure you clean out your ductwork with soapy water before you put a new core in, or you will be cleaning the inside of your windshield forever!! If you don't, everytime you turn on your defroster, you will get a thin film of antifreeze on the windshield.

could be a hose

I'd check and see if your floor is wet. That will tell you how big and if it is the heater core. Its possible that its just a hose leaking inside the hater box. Make sure before you tear out the dash. On the shops liability for your truck. It depends on how they flushed the system. If they used water pressure, did they use to much pressure? If they used air, that explains the leak.

Thanks everyone for your help!!
