SMR Update 3.5.1

When I logged onto SMR today it said an update was available for my vehicle and that I need to go to my dealer. Anyone else get this? After I clicked on the link it brought me to the update page and there was no update there. I have NAV so I guess that means I have to go to the dealership?

It says:

You are eligible for an important update or dealer upgrade. Click below now to add new features as well as customize or update your SYNC software.

I am at 3.2.2 without Nav and it is not telling me there is any update yet.:(

I'm on 3.2.2 on SMR. I called my dealer and they said I need to come in and get the new update 3.5.1. and the new Nav Card A4. Shows up on their screen. I have already had the fan issue taken care of.

Hi, cheiftokitdown!

SYNCMyRide is talking about 3.2.2 being available for your Explorer since your software shows you at 3.0.2. If you haven't had the Cooling Fan Strategy performed on your X, you'll have to visit your dealer for updates/upgrades.

That's O.K. I am from Canada and you're an American Rep. I talk to the Canadian reps here in Canada on the phone. They took care of me.

Just got off the phone with my dealership. Apparently they were going to charge me $90 for labour and $160 for the card. I called Ford Customer Service IVT. They called the dealership and had to argue with the dealer about warranty coverage. The dealer still wouldn't take IVT's word for it. They are saying due to the fact that I am over my warranty it's not covered. It is also not covered by my Premium warranty. Hmmmm. They said they called the Ford warranty hotline and they told the dealer it's not covered as well. I thought there was a 4 year now extended to 5 year unlimited mileage warranty for MFT. Service manager said that doen't apply to Canada. He's checking into it and will get back to me later today.
 






Update: Recieved a call from FoMoCo. They said the dealer was right and that the current warranty is for 4 years 60k kms. I told them that's funny. I'm reading an article in the NY Times dated 28 Nov 2012 saying Ford changed the warranty to 5 years unlimited mileage for 11-13 vehicles with MFT. He said "really"? I said "yes"!. He asked if I could send it to him. I sent it to him while we were on the phone together. He looked at it and said he would have to get back to me. 3 hours later I get a call and he said that he apologizes for the confusion. My vehicle is under the new warranty and he will contact my dealer to let them know....... Amazing.
 






This forum has purpose! ...apparently to connect Ford Motor Co. with their dealership network. Great to hear bs (no offense). Keep us updated.
 






Dealer just called me and asked " Did FoMoCo call you?" I said yes they had. He then went on to say that he would try to have the work covered under something called Goodwill Service. I stopped him and told him that they had called back and said that it was covered. He was flabbergasted. ( I don't blame him ). He said that the Rep told him it wasn't covered. I told him I just got off the phone with FoMoCo and they apologized to me saying it was covered and that he was calling the dealership to let them know that. Apparently he hadn't called. We'll see what happens next..... ( As the stomach turns)

All good. They are still debating on who will pay for it. The regional manager said its not going to be me. FoMoCo said it won't be me. Dealership said it won't be me. Covered.....

Update was done. I really can notice a significant difference in response time. Navigation especially. Messaging is working again. The whole system is working great and I have no complaints so far.

Well, just a couple weeks in and here is what has transpired with the new update.

Radio randomly swithces from Sirius to USB and then I'll switch it back to Sirius and a couple of minutes later it will switch back to USB.

When I'm listening to USB it does the exact opposite of what I said above.

Once when I started the vehicle it said the line in optiion on the screen. Never used the line in before. I then tried to switch radio stations and the screen had no response. Exasperating. Bluetooth phone wind tunnel noise is still present. Navigation seems to be working somewhat better. Response has slown down again.

Keep trying Ford. Some day you''ll get it right. I'm not sure when. Seems like everytime you fix one thing something else breaks. Oh well. Back to the drawing board. Good luck.
