I'm a bit late on this, but if you want quieter keep away from the magnaflow 11226.... IT IS SO D**N LOUD! 8 more months before it will quiet down!
And it sounds a bit ricey at first but it keeps deepening up every 1K miles I drive, and its slowly getting quieter.

If you go louder how about a 'Magnaflow 13288 XL Muffler. A guy with an FJ Cruiser says its so loud that it vibrates his cabin. :D

Why does it take so long to break in?

Don't know. Just the nature of the muffler. I read the break in time from the guys with FJ cruisers. I can still smell that "burnt smell" in the exhaust.

That'a weird my Cherry bomb and my old flowmaster broke in within 2 months but I do drive it alot

I have gibson too quiet I want flowmaster. Gibson is louder than stock but not loud enough for me wish I woulda boughr a flow and made my own exhaust but if anyone wants to trade???....

Couldnt be any happier than with my FM50 SUV on my 4.0. Its throaty through all rpms levels but screams around 3000 rpm. It wont get that poppy ricer sound and its not overbearing like the 40 or 44 series on a v6.

i wanted to get the 50 but at the time I only had 50 and the cherry bomb I got was at that price

Ok, so I do want the same type of thing, is there an exhaust that is still barely noticeable if at all when going 2K, but will scream at higher rpm's

I considered the Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Borla, Gibson, etc. for my ST's 4.0 SOHC.

My final choice was the Dynomax SuperTurbo w/o stock resonator.

Deep and subtle under 2K, barks when called upon or under load.

Under $60 with lifetime warranty. Excellent, great choice IMO.

That's pretty much what a 70 series FM is(I have one). I drove Tylers02's Explorer a few weeks ago and he has stock exhaust with a Magnaflow. Not sure which # his is, but it was a tad louder than mine when you cruised, but WOT it was louder.

I preferred the FM because I love the tone they put out, but a Magnaflow sounded deeper and more truckish, which wasn't a bad thing. Hopefully he and I will get a sound clip soon.

I can't comment on the Dynomax, never heard one on an Ex.
