I have the same sound a power steering pump makes when it’s low. But it’s not low, the sound doesn’t change when I turn the wheel back and forth. Could thin be something else like cam phasers?
2006 limited v8.

Sound frequency changes with high rev?

First of all..steering fluid level ok means nothing.try to clean steering reservoir filter from debris..

Then check your sepantine belt idlers, tensioner ,alternator and a/c compressor bearings

Check your belt tensioner. I had the same sound and thought it was a low steering pump. But I seen a video by FordTechMakuLoco saying it was your tensioner.

You can also take the belt off and run the engine for a brief time to see if the noise disappears. If it does then one of the items driven by the belt is the problem. If not then try and tell where the sound is coming from since the accessories aren't making any noise.

Ok I figured it out. Although it sounded exactly like the power steering pump, but the sound didn’t change when I turned the wheel.
It was just a bad bearing on one of the pulleys.
