Spacers between frame and torsion bars ????

So I was talking to a couple people I know and a local explorer guy.

He told me to get more SUSPENSION lift out of the front he put spacers between the frame?? and the torsion bars. I'm just getting into Explorers so I'm just learning how they are on there and work.

Tried doing a search for it and the best I could come up with was half a body lift up front with nothing out back. I'd prefer to have suspension lift.

Has anyone done this? Anyone direct me to some links I didn't find while searching?

From what I understand, it will keep the CV's good as the torsion bars will be in the stock location just the rest of the frame will be lifted? He had this ON TOP of the TT btw. While I'm well aware of.

The twist on the torsion bars is the spring and is what determines ride height. Spacing the bar farther from the frame won't do anything but reduce ground clearance, unless I'm really missing something here.

A suspension lift for the torsion bar setup involves "drop" brackets to gain lift - the torsion bars have new brackets, as well as the front axle, that are farther away from the frame to gain lift. Maybe this guy was talking about a regular (Superlift, Trailmaster, etc.) lift kit but using weird vocabulary. In that case, his "spacers" would be the new brackets you get with the kits.

Nawh. I asked him what kit he had and he plain told me he went about doing it this way. Maybe he made his own brackets? I'm not sure. Either way his X looked badass. I'm happy with my 2" lift I completed today for the time being.

the height of the torsion bars have absolultely no affect on the angle of the CV's.

the axle assy has to be lowered, to correct CV angles, since the CVs go between the axle assy and knuckles.

I don't see how lowering the torsion bars alone does anything what-so-ever

I think the only thing it would do is lower your ground clearance. Thats one of the reasons you dont really improve ground clearance with suspension lifts with these trucks-You have to lower the torsion bars which is one of the lowest hanging points on the truck. I dont know. Doesnt make any sense to me.

I don't like that ^^.
My problem now is ground clearance. My front crossmember hits, drags and gets hung up on everything.

The only thing that can remedy your crossmember hitting is bigger tires.
