Well I do have both shackles and AAL now but my first lift part was just the shackles....It was a quick install, shipped to my door they were like $65 The shackles will hang down lower then the stock ones so they are a bit more visible from behind the truck, but the AAL make a stiffer ride...some really say that it makes our explorers hand so damn stiff but I think that it wasn't as bad as described...They AAL is like $40 shipped or something like that amount. Both will lift you in the rear, shackles anywhere from 1 1/4 to 2" and AAL like 1" to 1.5". The shackle install is a bit easier/less time but nethier of them are something that a weekend warrior with some normal hand tools couldn't take care of...
so the shackels will give me more flex to start off with? because i do mostly rock stuff where i live. not to major just normal size rocks, im having a problem with bottoming out and i just want a little something to give me a better flex.

And I know of one person on here that removed the sideways shock just above the axle for more also. I never even noticed I had that until I saw that he removed his haha.
And you can get shackles from advance auto parts or auto zone. Most parts store I think. I got mine at advance auto parts for 15 bucks. They're nothing like warrior shackles BUT, they've been good to me so far so I'm fine with the 15 bucks I've spent.
