Spare tire hoist

My spare tire hoist doesnt lower anymore on my '95 explorer Sport i had gotten a flat about 3 weeks ago got the tire fixed then went to put the spare back on the lift and it doesnt lower to get the tire on

does anybody know how much a new hoist would cost and where i can get one?

You might've pulled it into the frame too hard when you wound it back up. Have you looked under there and tried to yank it out of its little housing?

I replaced my spare tire hoist (1997 Explorer XLT AWD 5.0L) two years ago. It was VERY easy. I got my hoist at the Ford dealer. I can't remember the price but it was around $70 I think. Honestly, I don't really remember the price but I do remember saying to myself "that's a little more than I thought for something so simple".

The installation is easy once the spare is removed. Two bolts (13mm I think). Really easy and I was done in 5 minutes or so.

I got the same thing at my 94 ex a few weeks ago and ever since then my spare's been taking half the trunk LOL.I do agree with Colin,and will try a junk yard this week
