That's why I was saying spray starter fluid in the carb because that would take the place of fuel and the truck should fire up for a second or 2 then die. I'd check the things JT said. If that checks out then you can remove the fuel line from the inlet side of the filter and see if you get any fuel flow with the ignition on, BE CAREFUL which goes without saying but I just have to add it. If you have a good steady flow out of the line then the filter is most likely clogged, if you have no flow then you know you have something wrong with the pump.

Do you have a multimeter available? If not now would be the time to spend the $20 and order one from Harbor Frieght. They are worth their weight in gold. With one you can test the lines at the fuel pump and see if you have any current there. A test light will sort of do the same thing but the multimeter will tell you if you have 12v there or just 2v, if it's not 12 then somethings wrong with the wiring.

That's the one I got, granted it doesn't have fancy auto ranging it's still pretty good for $20.

The reason I am comfused on this is that I did spray starter fluid in the carb, and there was no difference at all when i turned the key. I think I may have more than one problem, because as you said it SHOULD fire for a second or two and then die. But my truck doesnt fire at all.

Hey now!

Check this out... I will say at this point, tow it down to Jiffy Lube and have them go through your vehicle... you know they don't charge you unless they find a problem - and if it's filter related, they'll find it. But, like I said earlier, if it can be changed, and it's inexpensive, go for it... it's your vehicle. They can at least check your fuel system/delivery system... I'll hang out till you get it rollin' again... and I'm sure you will... Since you've checked about everything, probably just a minor part that's causing you this problem...

Thanks for all the help. I believe you are right I have a old junk tow dolly, but it does the job. I'm going to bring it to the garage and have them look at it. Hopefully they will find something simple, like you said. I will be sure to let ya know how everything goes.

Yeah I'll be taking it to a garage I deal with all the time. The guy there is a good friend. thanks for the advice

I towed the truck to the garage on monday. I almost lost it. My Dolly crank on the left side broke as i was towing up a hill and i almost lost the truck. Not good. I used a come-a-long to tie it down instead of the dolly straps, but the truck is there safely now. I'll let ya guys know what the garage finds out. Thanks for all your help so far!

The vehicle sure is a fighter! Wow... Ford tough? Whole new meaning... good luck!
