I've replaced my headunit and all 4 stock speakers, and when I'm listenin to my music, if I get the volume anywhere near where I like it the (rear) speaker covers rattle and it makes the speakers sound like they're the ones rattling. It stops when I put the slightest pressure on the cover. I'm not sure if it stops because it has more reinforcement or because my finger is absorbing the vibration... Anyone know what I should do to get rid of the rattle? Thanks

P.S. I have a 99 Sport, the rear rectangle covers are the ones rattling...

I had the same problem. I picked up some adhesive foam strips from Lowe's which is used for window weatherstripping. Placed it on the inside around the places it makes contact and haven't had a problem since.

Or you could go the cheap way and just wedge some paper towel or TP in there and that should do the trick.

Foam? How?

How do I get the speaker covers off so that I can put the foam in?

You replaced the speakers and dont know how to get the covers off?

Anyway, they're just wedged in there. Use a flat screwdriver to pry them out. The tabs are on the top and bottom edges of the grilles.

I didn't install the speakers, I had Best Buy do it. Mainly b/c it was free when I bought the speakers, but also b/c I didn't know how to get in there... Thanks anyways

hey Coke734, just curious, what city do you live in? I see it says outisde of Detroit, I live in Port Huron, 60 miles north of Detroit.

All you have to do (if they're the same as my old 95sport) is just stick a knife or something in top or bottom and pry towards the center. The grille actually has two tabs that go into the plastic molding, one on the top and one on the bottom. I think it's easier to pry the bottom up than prying the top down b/c of the way the grilles are molded. Hope that helps! They should just pop out.

The speaker grille is made so that there are tabs onthe top and bottom that sit behind the surrounding plastic.

To get my speaker grilles off, I just stuck my fingers in between the grille and the plastic and pressed down on the speaker grille. It was flexible enough that the tab is able to clear the surrounding plastic.
