speaker cut off switch?

ok so im not the only person who drives my vehicle. from time to time my parents borrow it to do whatever. i want to put subs in my car but am trying to come up with a way to possibly have a cut off switch so that the subs arent always on and when needed can be easily turned off. how would i go about wiring this setup? all help is appreciated, thank you.

You could just tap off of the remote wire to your amp.

Cut remote wire, take those two ends, hook up to switch.

Its pretty simple. You have the remote wire that turns on your amp, that comes from behind the head unit.
Take that wire and snip it. you now have two leads....

Remote wire = HeadUnit------X-------Amp

Where the X is, is where you are going to hook up your switch. Just take the 2 leads and hook them up to the switch.

You need a SPST switch, maybe like this one...

Basically, as OMGLOLetcetc said, cut your remote wire, connect one of the ends to one of the leads on the switch, and connect the other end to the other lead. For example, on the above switch, you would connect one end to the OFF lead, and the other to the ON lead.

I think it would be important to point out that you shouldn't do this to your factory amp, but the sub amp for your new subs, as doing it to the factory amp will get you no power to ALL the speakers. At least that's what just happened to me while hooking up my son's new aftermarket HU without hooking up the amp power on (orange) wire. Got no sound AT ALL until I hooked that up. And he doesn't have any subs. If I'm wrong, let me know. But I'll bet that's what happens.
