I used to have it booked marked but cant locate. I also did a search with no luck. There used to be a list of all the info and specs for the early X's. Can anyone help point me in the right direction. The site/list listed everything from length to gearing and also stated how to read the vin #. Anyone???

Dam

Thanks aldive. I thought I had it book marked. I think I printed one out but I will have to look at home. Thanks again.

Oh, by the way a '94 has a dana 35 in front, right? I talking with a heeper and he says the X's dont have dana 35's.

Every single Explorer made has a dana 35 up front, from Ford. From 91-95 they are the reverse cut Dana 35 twin torshion beam and from 95+ they went to the A arm IFS which uses a standard cut Dana 35 carrier.

Your Jeep buddy is just jelous because they were unlucky enough to get stuck with D30's up front and D35's in the back. Personally I wouldnt trst a D35 rear axle, with a 4000# Cherokee body and the torque monster I-6in front of it. It may hold up good for a while but after some miles it;s gonna give.

Now on a stock Wrangler the D35 rear is probably okay because the thing weighs nothing, however when we bought our 98 we got the factory ordered D44 for the rear (best upgrade you can make!)

Now Diamler Chysler also decided to shove the D35 rear axle under the early model Grand Cherokee's man what a mistake! they are so problem prone it's not even funny! Thats why they are all buying up our used 8.8's...

Just picture the Ford 7.5" rear axle underneath your 4500# 4 door Explorer and tell me how long it would last (still outlast the D35 I bet!)

410Fortune: Thanks! I will let him know. He has an ARB locker for the dana 35 and I wanted to know if it would work. He seems to think so. It came out of a heep wrongler.

OUch I dont know about that one, I would call ARB directly or an ARB dealer. You can also look up the ARB part numbers on line and compare them.

the problem is the pre 95 Explorer's are a REVERSE CUT Dana 35, completley different from any Jeep, However if it;s a 95+ Ex with the IFS it might interchange...I would check with ARB first though.....

Used ARB's are good, hard to find, and 1/2 the cost! I got lucky and picked one up for $300!!!! going in next week.....

Will this work in the rear? The bottom is a link to for ARB and what works with what. I thought it was a good piece of info.

I'm also gonna find out more for the d35. What ARB # do we put in the front on the older X's???

ARB RD81 Air Locker, Ford 8.8, 31 Spline, All Ratios.
