Speed adds another X to the bunch...kinda

Look at that fleet! Nice color choice on the new one, and nice work so far. :D

thanks!

When I get home from work tonight, I'm going to try to bolt some sheet metal on!

Definitely coming along nicely! Anything else you doing to the truck while you have all that apart? Looks like the wheels need a new set of tires.

I got off work at 7, and it JUST started snowing again....

But that won't stop me! So, I dressed warm, and got to it...

After about 2.5 hours, I got the wiring all back in place, body grounds done....

I attached all the brackets to the radiator core support, the only BIG thing left to do is attach the fiberglass header panel, and chrome grille....

It's too late for pics....but they will come tomorrow...

And YES, the tires are fairly bald. But luckily I have parted out or upgraded about 8 Explorers in the last 7 or 8 years...so I have a few good sets of tires to choose from.

Cool project. BTW, is it a ***** to keep your first gen on the road now that they're so old? I really dig it lowered. I so would buy one if I could find a decent one here.

No...not at all....LOL

I have a unique 1st Gen....only the Frame, front suspension, and exterior are 1st gen. Everything else is pure 2nd Gen.

I really like the stance, and this spring/summer I should actually have the exterior totally finished with all the changes/upgrades...then it will be done...I hope!!

Okay...the body work is 98% done.....I need to touch up a few scratches in the fender I got from the wrecking yard, and I need to fine tune the bumper alignment.....and get a matching pinstripe on the new fender.

Now it's onto the mechanical....I thought the trans wouldn't shift from 1-2, but I think it's not making the 2-3 shift. So I need to buy the spring and piston for the 2-3 shift...

You cant even tell at all that that Mounty was in an accident

I even had one of my neighbors come by and take all the old steel....including the FIRST 'new' core support that I was shipped that was damaged beyond repair.....hood, fender, both core supports, and fender support....all gone, for free!

Just f*****' WOW!!

Wow. I've just not taken the time to read your registry. You're really lucky to find the body pieces of the same color and trim! Good work.
