3.73s, which give me about a 3.27 "stock" ratio. I had 3.27s stock so it works. About the trimming, you can't really see anything unless you look up close. The only thing you can tell is that the corners are cut off the fender flare elbows. Pics won't really come out.
I still have to do some more trimming, but not until I go on a run or have a few days to recoup from my latest exploits. So far I've compressed the fronts about halfway and they don't rub too bad. The rears are perfect.
I love that front view pic. Imagine that coming up on your @ss at 90 mph!!! You can really see how with the 2" wider tires and 3/4" of added backspacing I have a much wider stance. Really helps stability and traction.
Are they going to allow you on the track to race with those tires? Have you tried to go to the track yet? Do you notice a loss of speed with the new set up?
thx for the info Alec, i have 3.73's stock and i just ordered some rims with 3.75" backspacing, i am about to order some 33's(but i also have the 2" BL on), can you do me a favor, and measure the diameter of the 33" procomps, i heard a rumor that the 33" procomp is only about 31" tall, can you verify this for me alec? I'd appreciate it.
From the look of it against my old 31s, these are almost exactly 33" tall. The lugs alone are huge Yomie, you're probably still gonna have to trim a bit, but not too much.
As for speed, I slowed down a bit, but mainly from about 15-60 mph. Depends on what gear I'm in. Braking performance has noticably diminished, but nothing I haven't gotten used to already.
I haven't gone to the track with the new tires yet. We'll see what happens if I ever want to go.
alec, can u post some pics of the trimming of the front wells? and also the angle of the A arm? thanks. email to me if possible at swak6287@hotmail.com
from my understanding the procomp xterrains have the widest section width for a 12.50 and treadwidth. also it is my understanding that they are a true 33 where as my 32s were like 31.5. measure hoizantally and get the most accurate measure.
Welp Alec, I'm liking the truck. So much that I will have on 33's hopefully by xmas. Got that push bar comming in soon as well. I'm psyched and cannot wait!
Alec,
The truck looks even better in person. It was fun getting together with everyone at Chuy's.
I think you should build 50 more and sell them to the Highway Patrol...

Tonight I got my first chance to test the new tires on wet pavement. I was wondering how'd they perform: if the pattern would be good or the wider tire would just make it easier to hydroplane.
Verdict: Awesome!! I can corner in the wet much more confidently, brake almost as if it was dry, and change lanes with ease. I can still spin the rears and kick the truck around if I want to, but it's much more controlled and I can gain control quickly if things get out of hand. Just for fun I did a powered 180 turn using just 2 lanes for the entire manuever Also, I can do a spin tire launch and go from 0-40 almost instantly Basically for that I floor it to spin the tires in the water, then back off the throttle until the tires catch and Splat does a jet takeoff
Wet pavement is fun!!
One more good thing: when hitting a large puddle against the curb, these tires tend to throw the water out instead of up into my windows
no, it's good the new tires throw water out (except for pedestrians). My BFGs tended to throw water up straight into the windshield, and it was bad. Though I learned to turn the wipers on before I went through large puddles and it was fine.
