OEM steel step bar is rusting. Will the black rubber step mat simply pry off the bar and push back in after repainting the step bar or are there clips or adhesive holding the mat to the bar?
It should bolt on in the center. If not, they are held in by plastic squeeze clips that you can get to from underneath. DO NOT PRY OFF! You will damage the step plate itself.
The OEM step bar on my 2002 is 4" diameter oval steel, there are no clips under the bar.
Two nuts and bolts mount each of three brackets to the underside of the bar.
