Step bar modification.

My new 2010 Sport Trac came with step bars installed. They are too close to the body and are difficult to use. Is there any modification brackets available to move them out a few inches? I have thought of going to a machine shop and having some made but wanted to see if something is already out there. I may be the only one who thinks this is a problem!

I don't think this would be easily done -- unless you could have someone fab some new brackets. This may cost almost as much as different aftermarket ones. I thought they were fine on mine (when I had my 08 XLT), but I have small feet. The OEM ones on my Aspen are much wider, so I guess it depends on what your used to.

I am a pretty big guy but my wife is fairly small. We both find the factory step bars useless because of their close-in position.
