Hi, I had my drive belt replaced a few weeks ago.
The old one was looking a bit frayed and I was doing a 2,000 mile cross country trip so I figured it was a good idea. Everything is fine except the belt squeaks a lot when it starts up. It goes away after a few minutes of running, or if I turn the AC fan Off.
I'm not sure if the tension needs to be adjusted or if the new belt caused something to fail.
Just looking for some ideas before I tear into it.
thanks,
mash

I don't think I would blame the belt. Having the A/C on when starting the vehicle, puts a considerable strain on the belt, along with the alternator, which is charging the most when first starting. This is one reason I turn my A/C OFF before I shut off the engine. If the belt doesn't make any noise, and the alternator is putting out good voltage, the A/C works, and the power steering is good then the tensioner should be OK. If you are having other problems with any of these systems, then check your automatic belt tensioner

Check your tensioner pully and ideler pully.
