99 Explorer Sport 4x4
I have a 99 explorer sport. 4.0L SOHC V6. Starts up, but the idle jumps up and down. I tried cleaning the IAC and MAF with no luck. Runs fine first few minutes, but when the engine gets a little warm, a light press of the gas and it stalls. I have checked all my connections and still have issues. Changed a blown 15a fuse in the battery block, #13, temporary fix. Now the stall is back and the fuse is blown again. Any ideas?

shorted O2 sensor?

According to my 2000 Owner's Guide Fuse 13 in the Battery Junction Box powers the O2 sensors, EGR vacuum regulator, EVR solenoid, camshaft position sensor and canister vent solenoid. If your fuse is blowing then the PCM should generate a diagnostic trouble code. Have you checked for any codes? My guess would be one of the wires to an O2 sensor has touched the hot exhaust pipe and shorted. That should definitely generate a code.

fixed problem

There was a small heatshield that came loose from where the o2 sensor attaches to the lower header. It had came off, slid down to where the wires come in and had cut into them. I cut the shield away, wrapped the wiring in thermal tape, and no more popped fuses! Runs like a champ again. Thanks to this site for all the info. Almost bought an IAC, and MAF. Saved me 200 bucks!
