I have a 2000 5.0 AWD & getting my list of parts together to start modding. I already have MSD coil packs & wire set other than that it is bone stock. What I was planning on was electric fan(have to replace water pump so might as well while apart), underdrive pulley kit,cat back exhaust & cat removal, cold air intake & power programmer. Exhaust was going to be Flowmaster. I have new stock injectors to put on but haven't done yet as I have been out of commission due to surgery. If there anything that you would do while I have truck apart & also should I look at upgrading injectors or would that just be a waste since keeping engine internals stock for the most part. The only other mods I was thinking of would be throttle body & higher lift rocker arms as far as drivetrain is concerned. Is there anything thing that you would look at adding or wouldn't do that is on my list? Looking for a bit more power & better mpg, plus that added exhaust note. Figured I would see what others had good results with before I start modding as most of my upgrading has had to do with carbed Chevy's & vintage BMW's,a little with my old rigs which were 351 Bronco's which I mainly just did exhaust & suspension. This will be a daily driver & street use, the only time I go off road is down forest service roads headed to hiking trails, truck has 230k miles on it & looking to keep it for another 230k, this is Ex #3 for me. Eventually when money permits I want to rebuild the motor, maybe a stroker to make a sleeper vehicle, nothing too wild, but that will be a year or so away.

Get torque monster headers. That is a must for these trucks if you wanna start modding it for power

Definitely. No other mods will help until you do this. The stock exhaust manifolds are very restricted.

Can't buy tm headers purchasing is still suspended.

I will keep checking their site, said purchasing is temporarily disabled. After seeing one heat shield a shortstack made here http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=215418&highlight=heat+shield it got me thinking. I have access to carbon fiber, going to try to make a carbon fiber ram air, but will need a new MAF from other posts I have read about running lean. If it works I'll save my molds to make more. After seeing one Explorer where the guy had a supercharged 347 pushing close to 700hp, 9" front & back I got the itch to make a sleeper, nothing like his. He had done tons of fab work in suspension & the custom front axle shafts alone were $2250 to be able to handle the massive amounts of power put down to slicks.Wouldn't be suprised if he had $50k in his Ex.I used to have a 97 Tahoe 4x4 that was really fast & shocked people all the time, but I totalled it racing a 3000GT twin turbo, I was winning until that oak tree jumped in front of me. Any idea of how much power the transfer case can handle in stock form?

I've got some time to wait for torque monsters, looking at dyno results they do perform on the low end as the name suggests & that's what I'm looking for. I'm going to start piling up the parts & will put them on when I get all healed up from my surgeries.

also i think going to a bigger throttle body on a stock motor may be a waist of money for now. even with the stock intake, and elbow, you wouldnt be able to go higher then a 70mm. also just go to a little better air filter like a amsoil one. k&n's have a habit of fouling the maf with the oil sometimes. there is kind of a debate weather a 4406 transfer case swap it good for a few more hp, and mpg's (i did this, but i did it when i did my motor swap so i cant really say it was worth it or not). another thing (that sounds stupid, but it is overlooked) is make sure your getting full throttle. what some people have found is they are not, and a zip tie between the throttle peddle, and throttle cable was all it took to fix it

Do the 4406 t case swap
