Steering control module, interchangeable??

Can the steering column control module/switch harness, be interchangeable?
Can the GB5Z3F791AB without heated steering wheel be used in place of GB5Z3F791JB with heated steering wheel... are they interchangeable, can you replace one with the other and it still be safely functioning?

I don't have the answer but Levittown Ford, a forum vendor, shows GB5Z-3F791-AB being for Explorers without heated steering wheel and without auto wipers. If using it in place of the one with those features, Id on't know if you would get fault codes popping up. I don't think anyone here has made that change. Are you having steering issues?

Thanks. I do not have steering issues. My wiper blades had a mind of their own and would go off even with the switch in the off position. I changed the control arm and still nothing. Next was to replace the steering column control module, GB5Z3F791AB. My Explorer does not have heated steering, but there is a National backorder on my part. I found and bought a GB5Z3F791JB which is for an Explorer with heated steering wheel. I talked to Ford this afternoon and they think it should work. We'll find out next week!!

My rain-sensing wipers will sometimes do a swipe in dry sunny weather or when I pull into my garage. My last 5 vehicles have all done this so I just ignore it. Good luck with the module.
