Steering Rack bushing

Hi All,

I had my Explorer checked the other day and was informed by the mechanic that my Steering Rack bushing was already missing. They insisted that Ford dealership in the Philippines won't be seeling a separate bushing so I need to buy the whole steering gear assembly.

As a workaround, the mechanic did amanged to modify some bushing from the shop and they used that on my Explorer. So far no issues encoutered.

Would you know any shops where I can get Rack and Pinion bushing for Ford Explorer 2013 models in US? Ive tried several online shops like quirkparts and energy suspension but couldnt find one. Thanks!

Bringing this back.

My wifes rack and pinion bushings completely blew out yesterday and she almost died. Failed literally over night as there was no warning or issues prior.

Ford lists it as the Steering Gear Assembly Insulator.

None of my autoparts stores carry it. I found one on ebay for $45 but I'll need two and it will take over a week to arrive.

Does anyone know where I can order the set preferably in less than a week?

From what Im told ford has discontinued it as well.

Is there an alternative I can use?

So I found out that I am a victim of Ford's planned obsolescence as well. I see that I can't get the rubber insulator and have seen the directions for making my own. Anyone know how to get the metal bushing that goes inside the insulator, because those apparently broke on mine as well..

Welcome to the Forum Dirk.
I'm sure Ford is not the only company that has "planned obsolescence. It costs companies $$ to maintain old stock items.
BTW, Decipha should still be around. Last seen here on Feb. 19th.
