I know this is slightly off topic, but I installed 4 new door speakers in a 1993 Jeep Cherokee and it works most the time, but it randomly blows fuses. It blows one under dash fuse or an underhood fuse, and I just was curiouse why it would do this or what could inconsistantly cause a fuse to blow numerous times....

Thanks for your help

Did it start after the new speakers were installed, or did it happen before? The only thing I can think of is that one of the speaker wires is grounding out, but this normally just makes the speaker go crazy. Is there anything else on the curcit with the radio?

Stereo is wired wrong. You should Never hook an aftermarket stereo to the factory harness for power and ground. Just a bad idea that always causes problems. Take out the headunit, put the ground to a chasis ground and the batt line to the battery. Oh and put a fuse in there

Hit it on the nose. Never, ever mix aftermarket with factory stereo, the power difference is just amazingly different. Find yourself a cheap HU at Best Buy or something and then hook it on, almost guarenteed to not flip out fuses every so often.

No, thats the thing, this is an aftermarket deck. It is a pioneer MP3 Deck.....so I am guessing it is the speaker wires that are inverted as they are hooked up to the speaker.

Inverting the polarity of the speaker wires will not blow fuses. It just makes the speaker(s) sound crappy because of the reversal. You can think of it like an electric motor...reverse the wires and the motor will use the same power, but run backwards...

Ok so like Mr.Bolye asked what else is on the SAME fuse? How often does the fuse Blow? What size fuse is it? What speakers are you using?

I am in agreement with the others. The best way to wire in an New HU is to run new power, ground, and speaker wires. That being said I would recheck all the wiring you currently have to look for any lose/bad connections.

Ok, I have another problem, after hooking up these speakers several days later now, the battery has died. I just wonder if hooking these speakers up incorrectly would put a constant drain on the battery and cause it to die. Or is this just a complete coincidence that battery is dying right now. If you have any suggestions, this would help alot. Thanks

Ok you installed 4 new door speakers. Did you have 4 old speakers? If so how did they work? How did you wire the new speakers in? Did buy a wire harness connector for you vehicle or splice the connections? Did you disturb the current wire harness on the back of the deck? You have a short somewhere in your wiring and you just need to retrace your steps to find the most likely place the problem started. You should take out the deck/HU and check out the wiring to ensure Nothing is loose and no bare wires are showing. I would pay close attention to the power wire (usually red) to make sure it isn't nicked or cut.
