Still Looking...

I am still looking for a set of Nerf Bars for my '92 Explorer 2DR 4X4.I know that Smittybilt makes a nice set, but I am concerned about the installation that seems to require drilling. I actually want these to function as Nerf Bars and less as side steps, so stroung mounting is an important option. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Not sure, but I always thought that you needed to drill when installing side steps. What are your concerns anyway?

if I remember correctly, Performance Products carries a set of nerf bars by Manik that are no-drill, cold-rolled, have recessed step pads (no holes that collect salt & rust), and look really nice. I dunno, Manik makes some pretty burly stuff (others on this site have been especially impressed by their grille guards) so their nerf bars just might serve your needs. I just visited the Perf Prod website and didn't see them, however. if you're interested, you might give them a call or order a print catalog to see if they still carry the part.
