Hey I was wondering if there was anyway to hook up an amp to the stock head unit on a 99 explorer xlt. it doesnt look like there is a place for the audio in and out, but my friend has a system with the stock head unit. wondering if you guys have any tips or somethin to help me out. thanks. :exporange :exporange :exporange

Welcome, there are adapters which will make the connections much easier. All radio shops should be able to provide them to you. Some factory HU's are simpler or easier, but the adapters work to keep you from cutting any of the factory vehicle wires. Good luck,

buy a line out converter. converts speaker level to RCA output. best buy has them for $26. attach behind the radio, cake

You can also buy an amp that accepts line level inputs. It's definitely do-able (because I did it) and it sounds much better than stock. You probably will want to upgrade your speakers prior to popping for an amp though.
