Stock transmission

Can you mount a 302 to a stock 1993 explorer XLT Automatic transmission. I heard that if you change the flex plate to the one out of an AOD it will mount right up. Just wondering if its true.

No. The A4LD is not strong enough for a V8. You want the 4W70 (i think). The A4LD is a weak tranny and would never hold up to the V8
