I have a 02 Mounty and the factory wheels are starting to look kinda rough. The clear coat is coming off them and looks like they are dirty all the time. So is there anything I can do for it? If I strip it off will they just ozidize and look worse than ever? I think it would be ok to strip them. But just wondering if anyone had tried it?

The right way to redo is to have the wheels media blasted and then recoat with a base paint and follow with clear.

If you can strip the clear off and keep the base color coat intact then polish, protect with wheel wax/protectant and call it a day.

I wonder what to use to strip it. I think we stripped a set of aftermarket wheels one time with oven cleaner. They had a clear on them, I stripped them and polished them. They looked a ton better.
