Strange clunk Ex 2002 V8

Hello everyone, I am new to these forums and recently purchased a 2002 Limited 4,6 V8 Ford Explorer. I am having problem with the car. The car clunks when I put into D or any gear. When I put into N or P clunk seems to disappear. Automatic transmission working wery good. When I am thinking about this noise I can’t sleep . Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for my English.

the clunk could be your rear diff wearing down. Check to see if there are any leaks coming from it. You may just have to replace the seal to stop the leak or may have to have it rebuilt. When you are driving on the freeway do you hear a whining noise coming from the rear of your truck? if you do its your rear diff
