Street tire question...

ok so my 2000 chrome mounty rims come in on april 8, and i am going to buy new tires to put on them. I NEVER EVER go off road, and would be curious if there is a certain tire that would maybe lower the stance of my X slightly. I know lo-pros would but the mounty rims are only 15's i believe. I was just wondering if theres a kind of tire with slightly less i guess sidewall area... or whatever. i'm just kicking around ideas.... thanks

You probably wouldn't like the look if you put shorter tires on your truck.

In metric tire sizing, the aspect ratio of the tire (series) tells you how tall the sidewall is by telling you what percentage of the width it is. Example:

P235/75R15
235 is the section width in millimeters
75 is the sidewall height expressed as a percentage of the section width
so 235 mm divided by 25.4 = 9.25 inches
9.25 inches times 0.75 = 6.94 inches
Height of the tire is 2 sidewalls plus wheel diameter so:
15 + 6.94 + 6.94 = 28.88 inches overall height

P235/70R15 is 27.95 inches overall height.

But remember that the truck's ride height will only be lowered by half that difference, the other half will increase the gap between the top of the tire and the fender, which means more fender gap. When you look under the rocker panel, the truck will look lower BUT when you look at the fender gaps, the truck will look LIFTED. And trust me, your eye is more drawn to the fender gaps than the area under the rocker panel.

hmmm ok, thanks for the insight, i was just kicking around ideas...
i guess i'll go with the same type of tire i'll have on my "Winter rims" maybe something not as aggressive....since the will be on "summer" rims
