Stuck in four wheel drive.

I just bought a 1997 ford explorer xlt it is stuck in four wheel drive the 4x4 hi low light blink on and off how do I get it out of four wheel drive I have changed the transfer case motor and I still have the same problem

Well, first things first, we need to narrow it down to being either electrical or mechanical. Unplug the 16-pin connector next to the shift motor and see if the binding goes away. If it does, we know it's an electrical gremlin. If it persists, we have a mechanical issue.

Start there and report back.
