Stumble, Surging and the infamous MAF, IAC, ect.

IAC Test

Here's how Chilton says to test the IAC:

1) Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2) Disconnect wiring connector from IAC.
3) Measure IAC terminal resistance using an ohmmeter (there is a diode in the IAC, so if you don't get a reading, reverse the ohmmeter leads).
4) The resistance should be 7-13 ohms. If not, replace the IAC.

I cured my engine miss by removing my home made elbow and open element air filter. I replaced the factory air box and panel K&N. The engine idle was restored and ran like a champ. It even stopped the valve ping from the wife's constant cheap gas fill ups. I was then plagued by what I thought was fuel pump problems for the 4th time. The inertia was the problem the whole time. If I would have checked that first, I could have saved myself 2 fuel pump replacements. The wife insisted the car be graced by a new owner after the fuel pump problems. The X was replaced by a '00 Mountaineer 5.0L.
