sub and amp problem

i just got my sub and amp friday. and i just tried today to realy crank it up and when i turn it up the amp or sub seems to go out. but when i turn it back down it turns back on again. whats up with this.

The amp might be shutting off because it might have a built in circut overload protector. You might be putting too much power to the amp or the amp is drawing in to much so it shuts itself down for a sec so it wont burn out. What kind of amp and sub? And what guage wire are you running?
 






also i think if your gain is turned up to high it will cause that.
 






if you have an xplod amp, they do it all the time, they suck
 






i have a 400 watt pioneer amp and a mtx sub nothing special. i just want to fix the problem. i can try turning down the gain tomarrow. and the wire is 12 guage running off of 8 guage wire.
 






Check your ground.

8 gauge wire is small for the power run too.....
 






lol i use a pos amp with my nice sub and pos power wire and mine hits hard enough to give me a few tickets =) never had problems with it shutting off
 






well i turned my gain down a lil and that helped it. but i still need to sand the chassie down for a betta ground
