I found a shop in town that does all kinds of custom exhaust setups. All the Mustang guys swear by this place and they will beat any other dealer in town. I'm going to stop in tomorrow for a free estimate.

What would be a good exhaust setup for a 2000 Explorer Limited 5.0 v8. I'm going to stiick with the single out for now but I was wondering if I should get the 40 or 50 FlowMaster. Delta or non-delta. 2.25 or 2.50 pipes.

You guys are the experts in this area. I want a nice sound and a little power, but I want the inside to be livable for the family and have that power sound at the stop light.

From all the reading I've been doing, and let me tell you, it was a lot. I should go with the Flowmaster 40 Delta with 2.25 pipes. I think that is correct. After 3 hours in the forum tonight researching, i'm starting to see double.

ive got a 40-series on my V8, and it is LOUD inside. go with the 50. but, ive got mine dumping right over the rear end, with no visible exit. this will make it louder than one with a tailpipe. but, the 40's drone real bad at highway speed inside. i have had them on several vehicles, and always they have one certain rpm that they annoy you at. the delta is supposed to take care of that issue. if you want it a little louder than stock, and sound good when you get on it, go for the 50. if you want it to sound REAL GOOD and dont care about interior sound level, go with the 40.

I have the 50 dual out. It has a very nice rumble at idle and it loud when you get on it, but just crusing its only a little louder than stock. From what you described I would recommend the 50 series. Are you sure you only want single out? Dual exhaust on an explorer is a rare sight. ;)

I have the 40 series non delta with 2 1/2" dual pipes. Its a little loud but it sounds great. If you want it a little more quiet, go with the 50 series. I have a pics link in my sig with some pics.

I went by the shop and had them take off the Delta 40. It was just a little too loud for my taste. The wife had a hard time with it also. I went ahead and had them put on a magnaflow. It souds a lot nicer and not too loud. Thanks for the advice guys.

4wd Explorer with a 5.0L = single 3" Exhaust. your choice of mufflers, personally I like Dynomax, Flowmaster is good, with my 4.0L I have JBA headers, a 2.5" high flow cat, all 2.5" pipe with a ProFlow muffler.

It works perfect. On a 4x4 stick with single exhaust for torque and room under the truck. I dont want dual pipes under my rear bumper that are gonna hit on every rock ledge I drop off of........and I dont want two pipes under there after the muffler, just more stuff to hang down low and get whacked on rocks.

Tuck it up under there as far as possible, keep it single, and keep it simple.

You guys ever notice that alot of these dual exhaust start to look like CRAP after a while! I mean one pipe is heading down and one is flush up under the bumper and neither of them are centered on the truck? Shotty exhaust work I guess, heck I've had my fair share of broken hangers, pipe's, and leaks, it;s hard to find a really GOOD exhaust shop..............
