So last night was productive... Made a new battery tray for the Optima. Installed the bung on the valve cover for the oil return. Replaced thermostat with a 180 deg form NAPA. Flushed cooling system. Everying looking cherry in there no corrosion. rockers and push rods were super clean. Must be the amsoil. I also did the requied mods to the A/C compressor, installed the bracket and did a mock set up of the supercharger head unit. Tonight is the fuel pump, FMU, and what ever else I can get slapped in there in 12 hrs.

Very wise choice

Very wise choice using the Amsoil. I just wish the blithering idiots who owned my X before me would have used it or at least even some half hearted Synthetic or even some Semi synthetic. I got 64k worth of pure dammage when I bought mine. Thats okay though, I put the right stuff in. I'll still get 600k before my first re-build. Then I can start from scratch and get the full million out of that engine.
I am glad it came factory filled with synthetics everywhere else (not quite Amsoil but sure better than Penzoil) so at least the previous owners coudn't screw that up.

Tonight I made some more mods to the battery tray installed the FMU, Fuel pump and support bracket(biatch). It's really coming down to the wire now. If I could get my damn chip back from Brian I'd be good to go. Oh well tomorrow is another day.

Latest pics of the install

Well I'm getting there. Taking my sweet time. Today I figured out the last bugs with the oil return, and oil tree.
This is a picture of the tree located at the stock oil sender position.

This next shot is of the "snake". The oil return needed some slight modification. I trimmed the metal pipe 4" and used 10" of 1/2" silicone hose. The hose runs across the EGR into the valve cover. You can see the spark plug boot cover I installed to keep it cool.

I finally wired up and installed the fuel pump today.

These next few shots are of the mods needed to be done to the battery tray. The first is a general location shot (and a *****in' pic).

This give you a pretty good idea of what I had to do to the battery tray. The stock tray was removed. Trimmed along the front right, and rear left side. This enabled me to squeeze the red top in. The hold down is a piece of alum. and a bolt with a wing nut. Simple but it works awesome. This also gave me a great place to mount my FMU. Out of the way and within reach.

Pulley clearance:

And one more for good measure.

So tomorrow is another day. I'm going to try to get the thing turning. I'm a little nervous, but to damn excited to care. I'll have some more pics soon.

Jeff

Nice work.

Lookin good!!!

Lookin good

Hey, you gonna have room to run that engine with the clearance you got between the battery and the super charger? I don't think that thing will allow it to torq over any.:D:D:DLOL just kidding. I think those new red top 34/78 optimas are a lot smaller (I think a new one would clear it better. Though, I don't really know for sure.

I'm pretty sure that it won't hit the battery. When the engine torque's it pulls to the passenger side. There's actually a lot of room there. All things considered.

Can you say "Blown 4.0"

Well I wrapped it up today. Everything is installed and functioning. There is certainly a ton more pop to it. I can't really jump on it yet, until I get the tuning complete. I don't want to blow this thing up before I even have a chance to run it for a while. What a pjoject this has been. I don't know if it is for the faint of heart. Very time consuming, and really painful. I have more cuts, scrapes, scratches, dings, dangs and dongs, Damn it if it wasn't worth every one. I enjoyed doing this I was able to get a little creative at times Which was cool. I wish I could have stayed more organized. I don't know how much time I wasted looking for a certain tool.
Here's a few pics at the end of today.
