I already added a KKM air filter and 2 weeks ago I added a Dynomax Super Turbo Exhaust. I am going to get a "Superchips" chip and was wondering if there is a different chip for stock vs modified. (Ex: KKM & Exhaust)?

I don't think so.....but being the un chipped person I am...I wouldn't know. I think it goes by engine.

I think Superchips programs your individual chip to take advantage of the mods you have. Being another unchipped person (for now at least), I'm not 100% sure, but I remember reading this on another thread. I'm sure when you order the chip they'll tell you.

peace

Mike

I have a Flowmaster catback, K&N, and big cut-out on the airbox on my 96 4.0L, and I put in a Superchips a couple of weeks ago. No special programming needed, I was told, by Chris at Smartyparts. Musta been right, cause i have experienced no problems, just a big boost in the git go. MPG went up, too...and a damn good thing since ya gotta buy premium with the Superchips. Anyhow, whoever you buy the Superchips from will be able to tell you for sure for your set up. They'll want your 4 letter computer ID code too.

When I was home 2 weeks ago. (Im currently in Bosnia.) I thought I wrote down the correct code. I only seen one sticker on the computer. It had a 4 digit code with a dash and some more numbers. Anyways its not the right code. I took the number off of what I belived to be the computer, behind the passenger kick panel. Superchips web site says the computer is out under the hood near the firewall. Dead Link Removed
So where is it really???? I need to tell my wife where to look exactly so I can order it. Mine is a 99 Explorer. Anyone have a 97+ with a chip? Where was your code?

Hey

Hey Goose,

Good to here from you. Haven't had contact since Truckhaven. Thought we might see you at Moab, but nooo.
Will you guys be able to make the Co. Colors Run over Labor Day? :)

My 96's is under the hood, passenger side, on the firewall...there's a bundled cable running into the connector. The code is the big letters right in the center of the white label....something like "MKK2"

From one other comment made about computers, I thought the one behind the kick panel was the air bag computer.

Hope that helps.

Ive got my code! Thanks to all. Now my problem is getting a response from Smarty Parts. Three emails and 5 days with no response. Called twice today and the answering machine said "full" and hung up. Anyone else have problems ordering thru Smarty Parts?
