I believe the superlift shaft should be long enough, but if its not Ill definately PM you.
Im so ready to get this stuff done, but I wont have it until next weekend, and maybe even the monday or tuesday after that.
Is there anything that I can do to prepare for the install?
Im going to service my front diff while im there, it seems logical to do so while I have it out. Is there any service work that is needed that would be easier done with the front end appart?
Well, I bought a case of flat black spray paint the other day. I intend to clean and paint everything possible as I go. I put in new ball joints when I bought the truck, but I didnt get them seated to my satisfaction since I was using a BFH to install them. I may try to seat them with the lower arms off. Since I have to get an alignment done, it would make since to replace tie rod ends while Im at it. I hadn't thought of that.
Boomin- what did you use to remove your torsion bars? Did you get the tool from somewhere?
I find it alot easier to use a 2 jaw puller. Have the bolt 2/3's the way out, set up the 2 jaw puller, put a little preload on the puller and take out the bolt then the adjuster. Then back off the 2 jaw puller. Its best the use a puller that has an adjuster from side to side to hold it back from opening
I have been going nuts waiting on the lift to arrive, but have taken this time to do some prep work.
I got the instruction sheet from the superlift site which included a parts list. I counted all of the bolts and nuts in the kit and plan to buy new locking nuts and spare bolts to make certiain I can get it all installed. Im not going to skimp on a safe install over a .30 nut.
Im going to pass on the outter tie rod ends for now. They are going to cost me $50 and I believe mine are in good enough shape. I will change them later if needed.
My front diff cover seems to be leaking, so while I have the diff out, I am going to pull the cover. New gear oil and sealant will go in. I wish I had the money to do a gear swap while I am at it, but that will have to come later.
